People Helping People (PHP) is the Food Ministry of New Life In Christ headed by Isadore Gutierrez. Isadore Gutierrez has worked distributing food to families and individuals in need for many, many years. He joined us at New Life in the beginning of 2007. He has a true heart of compassion for those that are in need and goes above and beyond the call of duty to help the hungry. PHP's workforce is a crew of very hardworking Volunteers.
PHP is supplied food for distribution through the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Through this ministry we provide food for over 2000 people monthly. On the last Saturday of every month, we provide groceries consisting of can goods, cereal and other dry goods to families and individuals in need. With the current economy, the distribution numbers are rising as more and more people are having financial difficulties and need help to make ends meet.
On a weekly basis, PHP distributes fresh fruit, vegetables and sometimes eggs and meat to families and individuals in need. This weekly distribution takes place every Thursday after 10 AM. We are providing fresh fruit and vegetables to over 300 people per week.
PHP is co-partner with our Annual "Unity in the Community" outreach efforts. On the last Saturday of August each year this event draws twice as many people who are in need. PHP makes every effort to accommodate as many as comes as well as provide a little something extra to the needy during this special event.
"But I [am] poor and needy; [yet] the Lord thinketh upon me: thou [art] my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God" - Psalms 40:17. Our food ministry, PHP, takes this verse to heart as it works very hard to help the hungry and poor.
